The Holy Cross 100th Anniversary Celebration Schedule

Holy Cross is celebrating it’s 100th anniversary this year!

To commemorate our Centennial, we have a lot of events scheduled. Here’s a sneak peak at what we’re planning.

There’s more info to come so stay tuned!

January 5: Informational presentation on the Centennial pilgrimage to Italy. In October, Fr. Willard is leading a parish group on pilgrimage to Italy. This will be an informational presentation with advanced details on the trip.

January 16 & 17: Called “the most vivid catechism ever created,” Fr. Barron’s Catholicism series is sure to educate and amaze. The series will be presented as a 12-week group study on Mondays at 6:30 pm and Tuesdays at 9:00 am.

Date to be determined: “The Meaning of the Holy Cross’ lecture series. Presentations throughout the year with guest presenters sharing their own interpretation of what the Holy Cross of Our Lord means for us.

Week of February 21: Beginning of Marian Consecration Preparation. Have you ever done a consecration to Mary? It’s been the foundation of spirituality for many Saints including Maximilian Kolbe, John Paul II, and Mother Theresa. Join us for a parish-wide, 33 day preparation in one of three ways: on your own, with family, or with a formal group in your parish home.

March 10: 100th Anniversary Gala. Includes an evening of festivities beginning with a special Mass and followed by Happy Hour, Dinner, Presentation, and Dance.

March 25: Feast of the Annunciation: Special Marian Consecration Mass. There will be a special Mass on the Feast of the Annunciation for those participating in the Marian consecration program.

May 2, 9, and 16: Learning the Love of God workshops. This is a video presentation by Fr. Scott Traynor on the basics of prayer in the tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola. It’s like Catholic Spirituality 101. This presentation is guaranteed to change the way you think about God, your relationship with Him, and how you pray. It’s a must for anyone wishing to grow closer to God. Presented in three sessions on Wednesday nights.

May 18: Beginning of a Pentecost Novena. This Novena to the Holy Spirit will be prayed for Holy Cross Parish.

May 27: Pentecost Sunday. Conclusion of novena and special consecration of the parish at Pentecost.

Date to be determined: Spring Family Celebration at West Side Park

Spring 2012: Catholic Connected. Join this area wide celebration of our Catholic Faith. Dr. Marcelino D’Ambrosio is tentatively scheduled as the guest speaker.

June 11 & 12: Psalms Bible study from the Great Adventure series.  Study to be held Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings.

September 12 – 16: Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. All the usual annual festivities PLUS MORE!

October 3 & 4: New, revised 24-week Bible Timeline study. Ascension Press has remade the videos on Jeff Cavins’ popular study to include maps, charts, definitions, and better jokes (hopefully!). This the one that started all the Great Adventure studies…and now it’s even better!  Join us on Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings to begin your foundational understanding of the Bible. If you’ve never done Bible study before, this is the one for you!
