Sunday, April 29th is the Fourth Annual Catholic Connected.
It will take place at the High School of St. Thomas More at 7:00 pm, and the guest speaker this year is Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio.
What is Catholic Connected?
Catholic Connected is an initiative to bring all the Catholics in the Champaign-Urbana region together for one night to experience the tradition, truth, and beauty of the Catholic Faith.
And, it’s completely FREE!
Every year, Catholic Connected tries to get as many Catholics as possible into one place to hear a speaker or view a film or experience something Catholic that will be uplifting, increase faith, and be evangelizing.
At least 500 people pack the hall at Catholic Connected to enjoy an awesome, faith-filled night and the fellowship of Champaign-Urbana area Catholics.
And, this year there will also be a Hispanic event. Dr. D’Ambrosio will speak at St. Mary’s in Champaign at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 29th.
Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio
This year, Catholic Connected has Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio.
Dr. D’Ambrosio was raised in an Irish/Italian Catholic household in Providence, RI. As a teen, he set his sights on stardom, playing bass guitar in several popular rock bands by the time he was 16.
But then, he encountered a group of Catholics whose Christian life was an exciting adventure, an adventure worth living for. So he laid his bass guitar aside and embarked on a road that led to a Ph.D. in historical theology from the Catholic University of America.
He’s a specialist in the interpretation of scripture and tradition, and his teaching covers a broad range of subjects from historical, dogmatic, and sacramental theology to evangelization, ecumenism, and Vatican II.
However, Dr. D’Ambrosio always remained deeply involved in pastoral work, especially teen evangelization and Hispanic ministry. So, his teaching is relevant to the challenges of everyday life.
You can find out more about Dr. D’Ambrosio at his website, The Crossroads Initiative. There you can his read articles, and find other recommended audio, video, and print resources.
